Project TitleEnhanced Recovery Reverse Osmosis System
Track Code2009-007
Short Description

The University of Texas at El Paso seeks a partner for licensing a method of water recovery based on the seawater reverse osmosis (SWRO) system.

Abstract

This invention is a batch-treatment SWRO system for recovering up to 90% of the water from RO concentrate or other brackish waters saturated with silica, calcium sulfate, or other inorganic compounds. When this system is combined with conventional RO systems, total recoveries of 98% are readily achievable with total costs (i.e. amortization and operating) as low as $1.00 - $1.25/kgal. Patent pending.
